Mrs. Sandra Kay ParrishChickamauga

Sandra Kay Guffey Parrish age 75, of Chickamauga, Georgia, went home to be with The Lord on Monday – November 10, 2025. She was born in Chickamauga to the late Curtis Lee Guffey, Sr., and Martha Kate Wallace Guffey. She was a graduate of Gordon Lee High School – Class of 1968. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from West Georgia College and received her Specialist Degree in Professional Leadership from Jacksonville State University. Her first teaching position was at H.A. Jones Elementary in Bremen, Georgia. She started her career with Chickamauga City Schools at the elementary school where she taught second, third, and kindergarten, and later became the first principal of Gordon Lee Middle School. She finished her career serving as the Curriculum Director and Assistant Superintendent for the school system. She was a member of D.A.R. and various other professional organizations. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and supporting her favorite Georgia Bulldogs Team. She was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Sr. and Kate Guffey and her brother-in-law, Grant Parrish. Sandra is survived by her husband of fifty-three years: James William “Jay / J.W.” Parrish, their children: Paige (Robert) Riese, Jason (Dee) Parrish, sister: Suzy Shipley, brothers: Gary Lee Guffey, Curtis Lee (Teresa) Guffey, Jr., grandchildren: Jenna Paige (Owen) Mixon, Kaitlee Elizabeth Riese, Ryan James Riese, Adiah Kate Riese, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Friday after 10:00 am until the service. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm – Friday – November 14, 2025, in the chapel with Pastor Zach Fitzpatrick officiating. Those attending are asked to wear blue, Sandra’s favorite color.
