Ms. Jean C. NelsonRinggold

Jean C. Nelson, 92, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026. She was born in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late Charles and Elizabeth Semonious. In 1966, Jean moved to the Chattanooga–Northwest Georgia area, where she dedicated her life to family and community. She was proud to be the matriarch of a five-generation family living concurrently. Jean cherished her family deeply and enjoyed spending quality time with each member. She kept in touch through social media and enjoyed playing Words with Friends with loved ones. Jean was also known for her culinary skills, particularly her Macaroni and Cheese, which she prepared with care for her family. Her sense of style and impeccable nails were well-known. Above all, Jean's love for her family defined her. She was loved by her family and all who knew her, and her absence will be profoundly felt.

Jean is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Walter Nelson; her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Semonious; her sons, James Eugene Troxell and Richard Alan Troxell; and her granddaughter, Rachel Renae Troxell.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Debbie (Charles) Green of Ringgold, Georgia, Michael (Loretta) Nelson of Rossville, Georgia, and Anita (David) Jones of Ringgold, Georgia; stepson, Gerald Nelson of Mentone, Georgia; and several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family invites friends and loved ones to join us in remembering and honoring Jean on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The funeral service will be held immediately after the visitation at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026.
