Myra Laquita Garland
November 13, 1937 - October 28, 2025

Myra Laquita Garland, 87, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late William and Margaret Curd. With a lifelong connection to Chattanooga and Northwest Georgia, she was a cherished member of Newnan Springs United Methodist Church in Rossville, Georgia. Many people will remember Myra for her many years working as a cashier at the Bi-Lo Food Store on the corner of Hwy 2A and Hwy 27. She loved shopping with “the girls” and always enjoyed hunting for special deals at thrift stores. Reading current news and staying connected with loved ones on Facebook were among her favorite activities. She delighted in cheering for the Braves, listening to Conway Twitty's timeless songs, and relaxing with her favorite game shows. Above all, Myra's greatest joy was her family—her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her, and she cherished every moment spent together. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone she knew, and she will be forever missed by her family and friends.

Myra is preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-five years, Raymond Garland, and her parents, William and Margaret Curd.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Mike (Patty) Garland of Covington, Georgia, Steve (Cindy) Garland of Rock Spring, Georgia, and Tim (Donna) Garland of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia; grandchildren, Joshua (Andrea) Garland of Hollywood, South Carolina, Brian (Bonnie) Garland of Cowan, Tennessee, Joni (Dee) Arnold of Rock Spring, Georgia, Keith(Lauren) Garland of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, and Kellie Garland of LaFayette, Georgia, and several great-grandchildren.
