Myrtle Beatrice Meeks, age 71, of LaFayette passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025.
She was an active member of Community Baptist Church in Rock Spring. Myrtle enjoyed working as a Phlebotomist for PathGroup at Associates in Women’s Health for many years until her retirement. She found so much joy in spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them with much love and attention. Her love language was acts of service where she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, Willie B. Langston and Fay Langston; brother, Leon Langston; and sister, Frances Day.
She is survived by her husband, Wally Meeks; daughter, Melanie Blair; stepson, Cody Meeks; grandchildren, Hayley Woodard, and Ian and Sophia Blair; sisters, Christine (Mack) Scott, Ella Mae Voils, Josey Noles, and Renae Langston; brother, Loy (Beck) Langston; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Community Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Angel officiating. She will lie in state from 12 p.m. to the hour of service at the church.
Interment will take place at the LaFayette City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Bryson Williams, Frank Yates, Derrick Brown, Leslie Day, Brayden Williams, Bobby Allen, Stacey Meeks, and Mike Cloud.
Honorary pallbearers include Pam Brown, Mick Thompson, Lynn Laminack, Paulette Ervin, Delores Philpott, Wanda Brock, Anne Yates, and all the ladies of Community Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the funeral home.
