Nelson Ferry Erwin, age 81, of Rossville, GA, entered his heavenly peace on September 20, 2025, just days before his 82nd birthday.
He was preceded in death by his father, Augustus Sylvan Erwin and his mother, Jannie Elizabeth Rodgers (Cline).
Nelson was a man of deep faith and a devoted believer in Jesus Christ, finding strength and guidance through his Baptist upbringing. He carried that faith with him throughout his life and into eternity, leaving his family with the comfort of knowing they will one day be reunited with him.
He worked many years with Combustion in Chattanooga, where he built lasting friendships and was known for his dedication and work ethic. Outside of work, Nelson enjoyed the simple joys of life—spending time with family, cheering for his favorite sports, sharing his love of cars, and being involved in his church community.
He is survived by his brother, Mark Erwin; his children, Connie (Paul) Erwin-Prince and Craig (Sherri) Erwin; his beloved grandchildren, Travis (Shasta) Tucker, Brittany Moore, Aaron (Hanna) Tucker, and Stormy (JD) Brown; and several great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy of love and faith.
He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him, but his family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace and resting in the arms of his Savior.

The family will receive friends at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, 555 West Cloud Springs Road, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia on Thursday, September 25th, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, September 26th, 2025, prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26th, 2025, in the Chapel of W. L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home-Ft. Oglethorpe Chapel. Service to be conducted by Grandson Rev. Aaron Tucker. Graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN.
