Pamela Lee Raper Halliday

Pamela Lee Raper Halliday, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Hearth Hospice Care Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jim Halliday, sons Jimmy (Laura) and Jason (Becky), two brothers Miles (Jimmie) and Buddy (Joel), as well as six wonderful grandchildren Paige (Anna), Ian, Emma, Jack, Robin, and Griffin.

A passionate educator, she taught kindergarten, fourth grade, and music in the La Fayette, Georgia area for 25 years. Her teaching philosophy stressed meeting every child at their own level, and she took a special interest in reaching out to the kids that faced difficult challenges.

Pam loved to laugh, and her humor was infectious to those around her. She took a special interest in art of all sorts and spent many happy summers taking courses at John C. Campbell Folk School.

Pam was a member of the LaFayette Presbyterian Church and former member of Rock Springs United Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church of LaFayette. Through her strong religious convictions, she strove to always help anyone in need, regardless of who they were.

Family was extremely important for Pam. She loved to be surrounded by her family as much as possible, and she loved them immensely. She took special delight in each of her six grandchildren and delighted in seeing them grow up and thrive.
