November 1, 1968 - June 30, 2025
Phillip Michael Smith, 56, of Ringgold, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2025. Though born on Lookout Mountain to Brady and Lois Smith, Phillip spent most of his adult life in the North Georgia area. He was a member of The Cowboy Church in LaFayette until health concerns prevented his attendance.
A lifelong fan of Alabama football—Roll Tide!—Phillip was known for his strong work ethic and generous spirit. He was employed for many years at Simms Flooring before retiring from the City of Fort Oglethorpe Public Works Department, where he served as a machine operator for 12 years. He took great pride in contributing to the development of Gilbert Stephenson Park.
Phillip was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He especially cherished time with his grandchildren and was known for his easygoing personality, infectious smile, and genuine love for people.
He was preceded in death by his father, Brady Smith.
Phillip is survived by his beloved wife of over 20 years, Leslie Moore Smith; mother Lois Smith; children, P.J. (Candace) Smith and Brandy Hayes; grandchildren, Dillon, Waylon, Matthew, Kyler, Brady, Kylie, Paisley, and Ryker; siblings, Jerry Smith, Wanda Smith, Debbie Bell, Larry Smith, Gary Smith, Ricky Smith, and Greg Smith; brothers-in-law, James Moore, Charles Moore, and Bryan Moore; mother-in-law, Janice Jones; and father-in-law, Charles (Paulette) Moore. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in the parlor of Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, with Bro. Wesley Stokes officiating.
