Reverend Richard Kennett, age 78, resident of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at his residence.
Rev. Kennett, son of the late Earl Kennett and Thelma Burns Kennett, was born May 17, 1946 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was the pastor of Glory Road Baptist Church for the past 23 years. Rev. Kennett also owned and operated Richard’s Custom Framing. He enjoyed trips to the Gatlinburg area and taking care of his lawn. While at home, he enjoyed painting art work; watching classic westerns; and listening to Southern Gospel Music. Most of all, he looked forward to spending quality time with his family. The family remembers him as a man that loved the Lord, his church, and his family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kayla Kennett Patton. Rev. Kennett is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Shelby Kennett; three daughters, Regina Kennett, Rhonda Hurst, and Tracy (Andrew) Lanning; two sons, Matthew Elsea and Chris (Betsy) Kennett; two sisters, June Kennett and Sue Kennett Wall; two brothers, Arvie Kennett and Freddie (Gail) Kennett; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, 555 West Cloud Springs Road, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, 12 noon with Reverend David Winton officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens South, Rossville, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 5-8 p.m.
