Robert David “David” Smith, age 69, of Rossville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
Born in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, David was the son of the late Robert Alfred Smith and Mary Arnold Smith Wade. He was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area and was of the Christian faith.
David was a proud graduate of Gordon Lee Memorial High School, Class of 1975. He faithfully served his community for many years as a volunteer firefighter with the Chickamauga Fire Department, demonstrating his dedication and commitment to helping others. He was also a longtime employee of Chattem Chemicals, where he worked for more than 25 years and was respected for his strong work ethic and dependability.
Above all, David was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He cherished time spent with his family and will be remembered for his kindness, steady presence, and the love he shared with those around him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Chris Smith, Craig Smith, Charlie Smith, and Elaine (Steven); his brother, Mike (Britt) Smith; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
