Rocky Dale Gribble, Sr., 61, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025. He was born to the late Thomas Clayton and Norma Jean Gribble in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. Rocky was a lifelong resident of the Northwest Georgia area and was of the Baptist faith. Rocky was a passionate sportsman who loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed playing cards, working jigsaw puzzles, and playing a good game of darts. Rocky was also a very accomplished musician. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. Rocky loved his family. He always looked forward to spending time with his family. Rocky was always known to have a big heart, and he was always willing to help anyone in need. Rocky was a very giving, kind, big-hearted person and will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Rocky is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Clayton Gribble, Jr., and Norma Jean Gribble, and his sister-in-law, Nancy Gribble.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sharon McDowell; children, Chasity Barber of Clarksville, Georgia, and Rocky Dale Gribble, Jr., of Brownstown, Indiana; step-children, Tammie Metcalf of Rossville, Georgia, and Ashley Metcalf of Hixson, Tennessee; sisters, Tina (Derek) Kleiber of Rydal, Georgia, Pamela (Gary) McDougale of Ringgold, Georgia; brother, Richard Gribble of Chickamauga, Georgia; granddaughter, Remington Barber; step-grandson, Ashton Westmoreland; nieces, Jessica McDougale, Jeniffer McDougale, Ashlee Gribble, Brandi Ogrey; nephew, Derek (DJ) Kleiber; great niece and nephews, Trinity McDougale, Maddison Human, Michael Malone, Grayson Simpson, Riddick Simpson, Sterling Ogrey and Mara Ogrey.
The family has arranged for a time to remember and honor Rocky. Friends and family are invited to join us on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service, a time to celebrate Rocky’s life, will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, we will proceed to Chattanooga Memorial Park, 501 Memorial Drive, Chattanooga, Tennessee, for the burial.
