Roger “Budda” William Roof, 61, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025. Roger was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and not long after his birth, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he spent all of his formative years. After graduating from High School, Roger served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was proud to be an American and proud to serve his country. After his time in the service, Roger moved back to the Chattanooga – Northwest Georgia area and lived here for the remainder of his life. Roger was an over-the-road truck driver and heavy hauler for over thirty-two years. He was very active in the local motorcycle community. Roger and his fishing partner, Nate Martin, were very active in the “Fishing with a Soldier” organization. Roger loved watching football and was a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan. Roger was loved by all who knew him, and he always made it a point to make a positive impact on each person he met. He will be greatly missed.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, William and Jeanie Sue Roof, and son-in-law, Chance Hammontree.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Lisa Roof of Cleveland, Tennessee; children, Meghan Hammontree of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, Samantha Roof of Ringgold, Georgia, John (Becca) Hill of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, and Bishop Roof of Cleveland, Tennessee; and sister, Charlotte Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The family has arranged for a time to remember and honor Roger. Friends and family are invited to join us on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday, March 17, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Celebration of Life service, a time to celebrate Roger’s life, will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, we will proceed to the National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee, for the burial.
