Ronald Calvin Railey
March 20, 1949 - October 17, 2025
Ronald Calvin Railey, age 76, resident of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Hospice Care of Chattanooga surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Railey, son of the late Calvin Coolidge Railey and Myrtle Jean Aters Railey, was born March 20, 1949 in LaFayette, Georgia. He graduated from LaFayette High School and then served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. After leaving the military, he began working for Barwick Yarn Mill, later worked for Walker County Telephone Company, and then finished his working career with Roper Corporation. Mr. Railey enjoyed taking walks in the woods and swinging on his hammock. He also enjoyed camping and taking trips to the Smokies. While at home, he painted art work; watched classic westerns; listened to golden oldies, blue grass, and gospel music; and was an avid Tennessee fan. Most of all, he looked forward to spending quality time with his family. The family remembers him as a Godly kind man, a jokester to many, and one who loved his family immensely.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Railey; and a sister, Patsy Railey Simpson.
Mr. Railey is survived by his wife, Bobbie Sue Railey; daughter, Shelly (Vince) Fuller; son, Phillip (Katelyn) Railey; six grandchildren, Krista Hill, Keisha Underwood, Evona Railey, Odin Railey, Hope Carrington, and Tyler Simpson-Railey; great-grandchildren, Maverick Underwood and Colt Logan; many other relatives and friends.
