December 30, 1935 - June 9, 2025
Sally McGuire Clark, 89, of Chickamauga passed June 9, 2025. She was born in Rupert, Idaho, December 30, 1935, the eldest daughter of James Arthur McGuire and Lillian Paige McGuire. The family relocated to a Chickamauga dairy farm on North Long Hollow Road in 1944 to begin a life here spanning over eight decades. She became the Valedictorian of the Gordon Lee High School Class of 1954 and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Math Education in 1957.
Sally taught 3rd grade at Lakeview Elementary School until devoting herself to be a fulltime homemaker. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved to feed anyone and everyone that came to her home. No one in her sphere of influence could escape her opinions, advice, and love.
She could not remember “not” being a member of Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church. She served on the Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church Board of Trustees as Treasurer for a number of years and critiqued the sermons of over 20 preachers during her ELMC attendance.
Sally was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Tommy Edwin Clark in 2018 and her infant son James Mark Clark in 1958. Survivors include daughter Paige C. Glass (Scott) both of Chickamauga and son T. Stephen Clark of San Antonio, Texas. Also, grandsons Michael T. Glass (Sarah) of Avon Park, Florida, and US Marine Corps Captain Matthew A. Glass (Anna) of Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Maryland. Her five great-grandchildren include Emilia Jane Glass, Natalie Nicole Glass, and Liam Thomas Glass of Avon Park, Florida, and Lillian Rosalee Glass and Levi Sanford Glass of Patuxent River, Maryland. Her sister Amy McGuire McElderry, nephew John W. McElderry, and niece Sarah E. McElderry, all of Augusta, Georgia, and niece Janet Glanville and great niece Michelle Fleming, both of Moorpark, California, also mourn her passing.
Paige Glass and Steve Clark extend invitations to the visitation of their mother at the Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 5 PM to 8 PM. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church with Pastor Zach Fitzpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
