Terry Don Smith, age 73, of LaFayette, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Terry was a man of strong Baptist faith, leaving a legacy of dedication and love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Jerome Smith and Mary Elizabeth Smith, and his sister, Linda Smith Posey, all of Summerville, GA.

Terry is survived by his beloved daughter, Amy Smith, of Frankfort, KY; grandchildren, Brendan Smith of Frankfort, KY, Hayden Camp (serving in the U.S. Army in Germany), and Macie Camp of Chickamauga; great-granddaughter, Amara Lee Titsworth of Chickamauga; and special friends, Bay Hollis and Gail Marks.

Among Terry's greatest joys was the birth of his daughter, Amy. He also proudly served his country through military service in Vietnam and Germany as a Helicopter Crew Chief. Following his honorable service, Terry founded and operated his own electrical company, TIC Electrical Contractors, Inc., where he worked diligently until his retirement.

Terry was passionate about training cow dogs. He was a gifted and respected trainer, making many friends within the dog-training community across the country. He also had a lifelong love of trucks and took great joy in restoring them, using his knowledge of mechanics to take something broken and make it whole again.

Funeral services celebrating Terry's life will be held on Monday, April 14, at 11 a.m. in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Bucky Brown officiating. Visitation for family and friends will take place prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Terry’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of your choice.
