Thomas (Tom) Lee Billington
January 3, 1946 - June 17, 2024

Thomas (Tom) Lee Billington , 78, passed away peacefully on June 17th,2024,
after a long battle with his health. Even during his declining years, Tom remained sharp minded and quick witted. He loved a good laugh and would always share a story with friends and visitors. Tom was born in Blissfield, Michigan to William and Ida Wood Billington. He graduated from Blissfield High School in 1964. Tom’s passion was sports, All sports! He would always joke that he “ went to school to play ball”. He played varsity basketball, football, and baseball in high school and was All State in both football and baseball. He gained recognition from several professional scouts interested in his pitching abilities. He was offered a baseball scholarship from Western Michigan, but instead he attended Eastern Michigan University and Jackson Community College.
He was very proud to be inducted into the 2010 Blissfield Athletic Hall of Fame. Tom’s professional career was just as impressive as his athletic ones.
His achievements include being the co-owner and accountant at Burwitz Billington Incorporated, as well as serving as president of the Blissfield Board of Education and being elected Treasurer of Lenawee County.
Tom moved to North Georgia in 1988 where he met and married Cathy Staples Billington. He enjoyed golfing and bowling and followed the Atlanta Braves. Although he had “moved south”, he remained loyal to his Michigan Wolverines. More than anything, Tom loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his family! He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him!

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Dale Burwitz, and his beloved brother, Richard Billington.
Tom leaves behind his loving wife of thirty-four years, Cathy; two sons, Jon(Cindy) Billington and Christopher Jenkins; a daughter, Katie (J.T.)Allen; grandchildren, Chelsea (Brad) Dixon, Andrew Billington, Makenzie Jenkins and Kennedi Allen; two great grandchildren, Lillyanna Rouster and Kinsley Dixon; a sister, Joann (Dave) Saxton and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 22nd, at Ringgold United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Bryant officiating.
