Thomas “Tom” Curtis Parker, (U.S. Army Retired), age 76, of LaFayette passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 14, 2025.
He was a life-long resident of Walker County and was the son of the late Ernest S. Parker and Bernice Mercer Parker. He was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church.
Tom served his country well having served two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Iraq. He later worked for the State of Georgia Dept. of Corrections from 1975 to 1989 with Walker State Prison and from 1989 to 2005 at Hays State Prison until his retirement.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie E. Parker; sister, Mona Jean Wilson; and his faithful K-9 companion, Abby Kate.
Tom is survived by his wife, Connie Parker; daughter, Laura A. Parker; grandchildren, Hunter Whited and Heather Allison Jones; great grandson, Matthew Jones; brother, Jim (Judy) Dailey Parker; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastor Randy Avans officiating.
Interment will take place at the LaFayette City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
