Wayne Franklin TurnipseedRock Spring

Wayne Franklin Turnipseed, 77, of Rock Spring, Georgia, passed away Friday, February 28, 2025. He was born in Rock Spring, Georgia, to the late James “J.B.” and Myrtis Turnipseed. Wayne was a lifelong resident of the Rock Spring area and was a member of Walker County Mountain Cove Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He had a green thumb and enjoyed working in the yard. He also loved working on cars, the outdoors, being a handyman, tinkering and piddling. First and foremost, he had a deep compassion for other people to whom he loved to visit and share the “Good News” with. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Along with his parents, Wayne is also preceded in death by his; brothers, James and George Turnipseed; sister, Marie Underwood.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty years, Sue Turnipseed; sons, Greg (Kari) Turnipseed and Joey (Janice) Turnipseed; siblings, Nancy (Johnny) Maddox, Norma Turnipseed, Lebron (Sandy) Turnipseed, Tommy (Gina) Turnipseed; grandchildren, Madison Turnipseed, Braxton Turnipseed, Tristan Carlock and Seth Carlock, great-granddog, Winston Turnipseed; numerous, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family has arranged for a time to remember and honor Wayne. Friends and family are invited to join them on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the LaFayette Chapel of Wilson Funeral Homes. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Walker County Mountain Cove Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses with David Dixon officiating. He will be laid to rest in Crestlawn Cemetery.
