William “Big Bill" August Resides, a cherished patriarch and devout follower of his Christian faith, peacefully passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the age of 75. Born to the late William and Margaret Fleckenstein Resides in Rochester, NY, Bill made Ringgold his home for over 54 years. He left a profound impact on his community with his unwavering faith and loving presence. After more than 30 years of dedicated service, Bill retired from Alltel Communications in 1997, transitioning to a new chapter working alongside his son at Allwired Technologies, where he shared his expertise and passion for helping others. Yet, Bill's true joy lay in spending quality time with his beloved family, embodying the roles of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend with unparalleled love. Bill's connection to nature was deep-rooted, with passions for various outdoor activities such as golfing, bicycling, camping, and hiking. Bill enjoyed many things in life: peanuts, a cold glass of Dr. Pepper, and an intense game of ping-pong. He was known as the unbeatable ping-pong champion in the family. His genuine kindness, steadfast faith, and warm spirit touched the lives of many, leaving an enduring legacy of love and compassion. Survived by his cherished wife of 35 years, Sandra Lee Weaver Resides, and his children Crystal Lee Hildreth, William Roy Resides & spouse Kerre Resides, Stephanie Resides Spence & spouse Robert Spence, and Paul Hughes & spouse Brittany Hughes, as well as his brother David Palmer. Bill's memory will live on through the generations he leaves behind. His legacy continues through his grandchildren – Alexis Resides Shelton, William Charles Resides, Whitni Rae Resides, Kemble August Hildreth, Jonathan Dane Hildreth, Laura Faye Hildreth, Joe Ethan Hildreth, LeeAnn Yaling Hildreth, Robert Maxwell Spence, William Hunter Spence, Meyer Addison Spence, Kennedy Caroline Myers, Samuel Jagger Hughes, Grady Griffin Hughes, Tyler Eric Bohannon, and Kinsey Grace Bohannon – along with six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends are warmly welcomed to honor and celebrate Bill's life on Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home Wallis-Stewart Chapel in Ringgold. The service will be officiated by Pastor Deon Phillips. Following the ceremony, he will be laid to rest at Woodstation Cemetery, paying tribute to a man whose memory will forever be intertwined with the love of his family and the lives that he touched.
