William “Bill” RiggsRinggold

William “Bill” Riggs, 86, of Ringgold, passed away on August 13, 2025. A lifelong resident of Ringgold, Bill was a longtime member of East Ridge Church of Christ. He dedicated 35 years of service to Chattanooga Tractor & Equipment before retiring. He later joined Groome Transportation as a driver—a role he grew to genuinely enjoy—where he worked for another 17 years before retiring a second time. Bill was an avid fan of college football, particularly the LSU Tigers. He found great joy in being near the water, with a love for boating and snorkeling for lobsters. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Sean, and his siblings.

Bill is survived by his wife of many years, Marilyn Riggs, and by his children: Mark, Michael, Candy, Greg, and Cecilia. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service, to honor Bill’s life, will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., in the Ft. Oglethorpe Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, with Charles Cochran officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service in the chapel.
