William Matthew (Matt) Day, a beautiful and loving soul, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 24, 2025.
Born June 12, 1970, Matt graduated from Gordon Lee High School and Jacksonville State University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He received a Master’s of Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Matt moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, to work with Broadmoor Baptist Church to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. Matt was an Ordained Baptist Minister and served as Minister of Singles for Broadmoor Baptist Church. He also served as Deacon with his church.
Matt was extremely outgoing, friendly, and enjoyed people and his ministry. He had a positive and endearing spirit and a strong love for Jesus Christ which saw him through many trials.
Matt was preceded in death by his wife, Stephanie K. Day; grandparents, Ruby Tate Day and William O. Day and Mary Thornton Williams and Elmer L. Williams; and great-aunt Lillie Blanche Tate.
He is survived by his loving parents, Debby Williams Day and William O. (Bill) Day; his two daughters, Molly Caroline Day and Madelyn Grace Grenard (Bailey); his sister, Missy Day Talley (Roger); aunt Connie Day Rasbury (Mike); nieces, Libby Talley Dowden (Jacob) and Reese Hunter Talley; nephew, Sam Talley (Johanna); and great-nephews, Sean and William Talley.
Matt will be remembered for his constant faithfulness, kindness, and love for family and friends.
The family would like to thank all those who showed such love and support for Matt and his girls during this long journey. Your outpouring of love, prayers, and support will always be cherished.
