William “Thurman” ForsytheChickamauga

William “Thurman” Forsythe, age 86, of Chickamauga, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 22, 2025.
Thurman was born in Hamilton County, Tennessee, to the late James and Millie Hicks Forsythe and had lived in the North Georgia area for most of his life. He retired from Precision Packaging Company in 1998 after more than 25 years of dedicated service as a Supervisor. Following his retirement, he worked alongside his wife at Wilson Funeral Homes for more than 23 years.
He was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Ringgold for several years and greatly enjoyed spending his spare time golfing at a moment’s notice. Thurman was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be truly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Jean Howard Forsythe; daughter, Anita Deanna Forsythe; sister, Elizabeth Terrel; and brothers, James Henry Forsythe, Chester Leroy Forsythe, and John Leslie Forsythe.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters and sons-in-law, Gwendolyn Denise (Randy) Parker of Ringgold, Georgia, and Rhonda Jean (Arvil) Shown of Chattanooga, Tennessee; sister, Vera Mae Bryant of Lookout Valley, Tennessee; three grandchildren and spouses, Anna Reyes, Hunter (Megan) Shown, and Cherrish (Ryan) Henderson; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt Poteet, Jericho Shown, Eliana Shown, and Emmett Shown; along with several nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Bro. James Thomasson and Bro. Randy Chesnutt officiating. Burial will follow in LaFayette Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00–8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
