Wilma Fowler, 89, of Flintstone went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at her home with her family by her side.
She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia area. She was a founding member of the Calvary Church of God in 1953 along with her husband, the late Rev. Billy Fowler. For many years she loved singing at the church as well as playing the piano, bass, and guitar. She loved the Lord with all of her heart, and she cherished her time with family. She was known for her cooking, especially her dumplings and breakfast. Mrs. Fowler was intelligent, and it shined as she worked crossword puzzles until the day she passed. She also enjoyed working word finds and crocheting. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Billy Fowler; daughter, Sandra Gail Fowler; sons, David Ray Fowler and Kenneth Lamar Fowler; brothers, Charles, Maurice, Wayne, Willard, and David Bledsoe; and sisters, Katherine Swaggerty, Laura Etta Leffew, and Rita Faye Poovey.
Survivors include her children, Deborah (Joe) Llewellyn, Rhonda (Scott) Gay, and Daniel (Amanda) Fowler; brother, Floyd Bledsoe and Billy Jack Bledsoe; sister, Floyce Smith; daughters-in-law, Becky Fowler and Karen Fowler; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Steve Swaggerty officiating and Reverend Gary Swaggerty speaking.
Interment will follow in the Boydston Cemetery with her grandsons, Alan Gordy, Matt Luck, Chris Gordy, Michael Gay, Nick Gay, Josh Lowery, and Matt Kilbourne serving as Pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4-8p.m. and Saturday from 11a.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville, GA.
