Wisteria Picklesimer “Terry” Smith
December 13, 1937 - August 8, 2023

Wisteria Picklesimer “Terry” Smith, 85, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday morning, August 8, 2023. Terry was born in Mannsville, Kentucky on December 13, 1937, to the late, Earl & Opal Picklesimer and moved to Harrison, Tennessee where she graduated from Ooltewah High School. While attending Tennessee Temple College, she met Don Smith at Lakewood Baptist Church and they married in June of 1957. Terry was a devoted pastor’s wife for 45 years serving in churches in Alabama and Tennessee. Following Don’s retirement, they joined Rock of Ages Prison Ministry in Cleveland, Tennessee, where she served faithfully from 2002 until the present. Terry loved being an active member of Victory Baptist Church, where she could be found in attendance every time the doors were open. Terry was a beautiful lady who was strong in spirit and always certain in what she believed. She loved and was committed to first and foremost, Jesus Christ, her family, missionaries, her local church, the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Braves. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend that will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Smith; son, Mel Picklesimer; and siblings, James Picklesimer, Gwen Hindman, Hoyle Picklesimer and Noland Picklesimer.

Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law, Janie Smith Cooley & (Jimmy); sons & daughter-in-law, Doug Smith & (Shari), Mitchell Picklesimer and Monty Smith; brother & sister-in-law, Don “Dink” Picklesimer & (Louella); grandchildren and spouses, Jessica Smith Boles & (Jeremy), Josh Smith & (Emily), Caitlin Smith Booksh & (Ethan) and Carrie Smith Chancey & (Hunter); 6 great-grandchildren, Ellie, Maddie, Jonah, Brynnlee, Holden and Smith; and numerous extended family & friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Victory Baptist Church with Dr. Ernest Groce and Chaplin Ted Verville officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrison Cemetery.
