Catoosa County voters approved a 1% Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. The SPLOST was approved with 60% of the vote. Officials say the tax will generate $96-million over the next six years.

A federal lawsuit alleges that the City of Calhoun allowed a company to dump forever chemicals into local waters. The lawsuit claims the chemicals have contaminated Gordon County drinking water. The suit was filed by the Coosa River Basin Initiative. It claims Moss Land Company and Calhoun’s Water Pollution Control Plant has contaminated the water for years.
