Jan Jay, age 81, resident of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at The Canopy.
Mrs. Jay, daughter of the late Charles Raymond Blansett and Virginia Irene Overall Blansett, was born April 20, 1944 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She was retired from Catoosa County School system where she faithfully worked for 29 ½ years. Mrs. Jay was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Ringgold, where she was a member of the Joy choir and Pioneer Sunday School class. She enjoyed watching her grandkids play softball; watching Georgia Bulldog football; attending multiple sporting events; and taking cruises with her husband. Mrs. Jay was a Breast Cancer longtime survivor. The family remembers her as a Godly woman who was a fighter and loved her family immensely, particularly her grandkids.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Virgil Jay, Jr.; one brother, Ronald C. Blansett; one sister, Juanita Blansett; and her father and mother in-laws, Ralph Jay, Sr and Sarah Jay.
Mrs. Jay is survived by two daughters, Lori (Tommy) Kimbrell and Benita (Billy) Johnson; two sisters, Virginia (Frederick) Langrehr and Renee Davenport; seven grandchildren, Kalei (Blake) Sexton, Jordan Kimbrell, Brittany (Keith) Wilson, Billy (Desi) Johnson III, Bethany (Sean) Kittle, Samuel Johnson, and Nathaniel Johnson; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Randy) Rolen; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled at First Baptist Church Ringgold, 7611 Nashville Street, Ringgold, Georgia on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, 2 p.m. with Reverend Eric Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at Catoosa Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 12 noon till 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to First Baptist Church Ringgold, ATTN: Building Fund, 7611 Nashville Street, Ringgold, Georgia 30736.
