Roger “Coach” Powell, 76, of Rock Spring, GA, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 27, 2026.
Roger was born on December 27, 1949. He was a true jack of all trades who found joy in serving others. He loved baking for friends and family, working on carpentry projects, riding his recumbent trike through the Battlefield, and caring for his neighbors. His life was marked by dedication, strength, and a deep love for both his family and his community. The values he carried were evident in his kindness, quiet strength, and steadfast integrity.
As a retired educator of the Walker County School System, Roger was known to many as “Coach” and as a respected principal. He touched countless lives through his guidance, encouragement, and steady presence. Whether on the field, on the basketball court, or in everyday life, he was someone others looked to for wisdom, support, and leadership.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Powell; and brother, Charles Powell.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Lorraine Powell; daughters, Kristy (Robert) White and Kelsey (Evan) Webb; sister, Debbye Jeanseau; grandchildren, Jaxon White, Grayson White, Ellie White, Wells White, Cora Webb, and Lawson Webb; along with several extended family members and friends.
Roger will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering dedication to those he loved, and the lasting impact he made on so many lives.
In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held. Those wishing to honor Roger’s memory may donate to Les Feldick Ministries, an organization that held deep meaning in his life.
