George “Doug” Scealf
January 16, 1947 - March 31, 2026

George “Doug” Scealf, 79, of Chickamauga, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. He was born on January 16, 1947, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Doug and Ruby Scealf.

Doug grew up in the Rossville, Georgia area and graduated from Rossville High School, Class of 1965. He later attended Walker Technical College, where he studied engineering. Throughout his career, Doug worked for Combustion Engineering, Jackson Water Heater, and the Chattanooga Times Free Press before retiring from American General Life Insurance as a sales manager.

A devoted Christian, Doug faithfully attended Lookout Baptist Church for 37 years. He was known for his adventurous, larger-than-life personality and for being a man of wisdom who truly lived out his faith in the way he treated others.

Doug enjoyed classic cars, NASCAR, traveling, and spending time at the beach. He also had a special talent for flower gardening, particularly growing beautiful hydrangeas. Above all, he loved the Lord and his family deeply.

He was preceded in death by his son, Cale Scealf, and his brother, David Scealf.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty years; Sheila Scealf, his children, Louis Scealf, Russell (Marcia) Curtis and Tina (David) Newman; and his brothers, Darrell (Virginia) Scealf and Bill (Darlene) Scealf.

He was a proud grandfather to Jarrett Curtis, Anna (Caleb) Melton, Douglas Scealf, Ruby Scealf, and David Scealf, and a loving great-grandfather to Georgia May Scealf. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 12:00 PM until the hour of service at Lookout Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Lookout Baptist Church (GA-193, Chickamauga, Georgia 30707) with Pastor Terry Burns officiating. Interment will follow in Lookout Cemetery, Chickamauga, Georgia.
