Bernhard Richter

Bernhard Richter, age 84, resident of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Erlanger East Hospital, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Mr. Richter, son of the late Herbert and Lieselotte Strauss Richter, was born May 18, 1941 in Magdeburg, Germany. After graduating from high school, while living in Frankfurt, Germany, he began an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering. Once completing his apprenticeship, he began a career with Hebenstreit where he worked faithfully for over 42 years, where he traveled throughout the world helping numerous food industry companies. Mr. Richter worked and lived in Green Lake, Wisconsin where he enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, and watching Green Bay Packer football. Later, he moved to Ringgold, Georgia. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, working in his yard, feeding his horses and cats, and maintaining hummingbird feeders. He also enjoyed taking trips with his wife, many of them would be back to his home country in Germany. While at home, he enjoyed home projects and cooking and grilling for family and friends. Many would find him watching numerous sporting events, particularly European soccer. He would also be listening classic rock music. The family remembers him as a “one of a kind” man – definitely irreplaceable.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Helmuth Richter; and one nephew, Stefon Richter.
Mr. Richter is survived by his wife of over eight years, Darlene Richter; one son, Bernd (Daughter-in- Law Christine) Richter; three sisters, Irene Jungheim, Regine Frey, and Ingeborg Sater; one brother, Jurgen Richter; two granddaughters, Claire Richter and Zoe Richter; step-son, Stephen Gutshall; five nieces, Petra Frey, Britta Andrasi, Carola Frey, Tanja Miller, and Monika Jungheim; two nephews, Greg Sater and Daniel Sater; many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park, 724 Hogan Road, Rossville, Georgia on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 3 p.m.
