Ernest Foutz

Ernest Ray Foutz, 77, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026. He was born on July 20, 1948, in Rossville, GA to the late Lorenzo and Leoma Foutz.

Ernest joined the Army in 1968 where he served in the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of Sergeant. During his time served in the Army, he earned a National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal.

After serving in the Army, he began working in the construction industry, retiring from WBC Construction. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking. He was very mechanically inclined and enjoyed tinkering with old vehicles. His daughter affectionately referred to him as MacGyver as he could fix or build just about anything with his hands and a little ingenuity.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo and Leoma Foutz; brothers, Eugene Foutz, Harold Foutz, Ralph Foutz, and Loyd Foutz; and sister, Loretta Cheek.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Ginger Burton; sister, Jo-Ann Barksdale; mother of their daughter, Maxine Foutz; and several nieces and nephews.

A private interment will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 12:00p.m. at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Disabled American Veterans.
