Jack Prescott
February 13, 1937 - April 1, 2026

Jackie “Jack” Prescott passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026. He was born on February 13, 1937, in Fort Oglethorpe, GA to the late John and Hazel Prescott.

Jack worked at Ortmeier Machinery and retired from there after many years.

Jack was a faithful and active member of Catoosa Baptist Tabernacle. He loved his church family and especially loved the singing!

Jack loved baseball, bowling, and his family. He coached the Dixie Youth League for many years and led them to the World Series. Bowling was one of his favorite things to do and he was pretty dang good at it! For many years you could find him at least one day a week, usually more, at the bowling alley either bowling on a league, or teaching the grandkids how it was done. However, the most important thing to Jack was his love for the Lord and his family. He truly lived out what the Lord calls us to be as Christians. Jack was faithful, humble, and kind to every single person he crossed paths with. He quietly helped wherever he saw a need and never expected anything in return. He had a presence that made everyone feel at home and at ease. And if you were at his house for more than a few minutes, he’d convince you to have an ice cream or a Little Debbie with him on the front porch, while he told you about how he walked 2 miles at Camp Jordan almost every day, and that the Lord had been good to him. While we will miss him, we have the sweet assurance that we will see him again soon and that he is strolling the streets of heaven.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 plus years, Wilmadean “Wilma” Prescott; parents, John and Hazel Prescott; and siblings, Johnnie Seaburg and Dale Prescott.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Nickie Ray Prescott; daughter, Kim (Allen) Dean; 5 grandchildren, Loren (Dustin) Fryar, Warren (Amber) Dean, Kayla Prescott, Lexi (Logan) Sneed, and Christian Prescott; 5 great grandchildren, Emma Fryar, Cole Fryar, Carter Dean Grayson Prescott, and Ava Dean; sister, Diane Howard; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
