James “Jim” Carson Stokes Jr.

James “Jimmy” Carson Stokes Jr., 70, passed away peacefully at his home on March 22, 2026.
Jimmy was a longtime resident of the Lakeview/Fort Oglethorpe area and regularly attended Grace Baptist Church in Chickamauga, Georgia. Jim graduated from Lakeview High School. He retired from the used car business after more than 25 years and enjoyed refinishing antique furniture. Mr. Stokes also worked at A1 Towing and Simmons Auto Sales with his long-time best friend Bill Schultz.
He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Stokes; his son, Wesley Stokes and wife Jessie Stokes; his grandchildren, Hannah Moore and husband Ryan Moore; Nathanuel Oxford, Jacob Denham, Isaac, Brylie, and Levi Stokes; and his great-grandchildren, Silas and Raina Moore. He is also survived by his brother, George Stokes and wife Sheri Stokes; and several nieces and nephews, including J.C. Widener, Chad Stokes, Ryne Stokes, and Connie Kelly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Carson Stokes Sr. and Jaunita Stokes; and his sisters, Connie Sue Stokes and Marlynn Davis.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 210 Thomas Ave., Chickamauga, GA 30707, on April 12, 2026, at 4:00 PM, officiated by his son, Pastor Wesley Stokes. The family will receive friends and family from 2:00 PM until the time of service.
Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
