Flintstone, Georgia - Patty Rooks died early Sunday morning at her home in Flintstone, GA, surrounded by her husband and daughters on April 12, 2026. She had endured many health challenges for years with a cheerful can-do attitude. Patty was born in Mars Hill, ME, to a large family of potato farmers.
She loved the natural world, playing her Martin guitar, and enjoyed pottery. After studying retailing in Denver, CO, she owned and operated several small businesses. But her true joy was her family. She was intensely proud of her three daughters and grandson.
Patty is survived by her husband, Berwyn Rooks; daughters, Hillary Libby of Brooklyn, NY, Erin Libby of Chicago, IL, and Erica Libby of Chattanooga, TN; a grandson, Emmet Pitts of Chattanooga, TN; brothers, Shanon Smith of Heflin, AL, Shawn Smith of Dixmont, ME, and Lance Smith of Presque Isle, ME, and St. Augustine, FL; a sister, Elise Greef, of White Salmon, WA, and St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada. She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Marguerite Smith; a brother, Martin Smith; and a sister, Jill Smith.
Her ashes will be interred in the Pierce Cemetery in Mars Hill in 2027.
