Robert Francis Harris, age 79, of LaFayette, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026. He went home to be with the Lord surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Grinnell, Iowa, he was the son of the late Lester Harris and Beulah Matherley Harris. Robert made his home in North Georgia since the early 1990s and was a devoted member of the Baptist faith. He dedicated more than 35 years of his life to truck driving before retiring in 2019, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elisa Deck Harris; grandchildren, Brianne Santana, Lucas Santana, and Nicholas Santana; and siblings, Raymond Harris, Perry Ann Hinshaw, Agnes Standnick, and Steve Harris.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Scott (Jennifer) Babinat, Barbara (Louis) Santana, Leslie (Rodney) Wells, Paul Harris, Michelle Bristol, Jennifer (Brian) Leitch, and Charles (Christie) Hildreth; brothers, Charles (Gladys) Harris and Ron Harris; grandchildren, Justina Proehl, Jacqueline Hansen, Jamie Figueroa, Victoria Wilson, Karissa Santana, Hannah Wells, Sarah Wells, Leah Halbert, Cheylynn Leitch, and Serenity (Toby) Leitch; along with several nieces and nephews who will also remember him fondly.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 18, 2026, in the funeral home chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, with Pastor Damon Perry officiating. There will be a private family interment at Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park.
