Shirley Cook Harris

Shirley Virginia Cook Harris, age 85, of LaFayette, passed away Monday, April 20, 2026.

A devoted member of Community Baptist Church on Lee Mason Road for 43 years, she was known for her faithful presence and her willingness to serve—humbly helping care for and clean the church she loved for many years. Shirley never met a stranger, and truly enjoyed visiting with others, taking time to catch up and check on how they were doing. Her warm spirit, gentle kindness, and easy conversation made everyone feel seen and valued. She had a way of spreading love and cheer everywhere she went, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Harris; and parents, Artie Cook and Della Green Cook.

She is survived by several cousins.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastor Roger Greene, Pastor Rodney Blaylock, and Pastor Josh Edwards officiating.

Interment will take place at Naomi Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Greg Ramey, Mike Green, Steve Chapman, Buddy Chapman, Josh Chapman, Eric Green, and Hugh McKissick.

A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
