The LaFayette Ramblers Track and Field team tested itself against top competition over the weekend at the GHSA Class 3A Sectional Meet, held at Jefferson High School.
Leading the way for LaFayette was Porter Sentell, who turned in a standout performance in the sprint events. Sentell placed fourth in the 100-meter dash and fifth in the 200-meter dash, earning a spot in the upcoming state championships.
On the girls side, Alex Dodson competed in two events, finishing 13th in the long jump and 14th in the 100-meter dash.
For the boys, Zaire Grissom placed 14th in the shot put, while Kevin Carmichael finished 13th in the 110-meter hurdles. Elijah Decker delivered one of the team’s strongest distance performances, placing ninth in the 800-meter run.
The Ramblers also competed in the 4×400-meter relay, where the team of Jordan Ridley, Levi Collins, Jake Nave, and Payton Cameron finished 16th overall.
Sentell will now advance to the GHSA State Track and Field Championships, scheduled for May 14 at the University of Georgia Athletic Complex.
