Walker County Primary Election Turnout Reaches 20.54 Percent

Voter turnout in Walker County reached just over 20 percent during Tuesday’s May 19 General Primary Election, according to official figures from the Walker County Elections Office.

A total of 9,124 ballots were cast in the primary election out of 44,430 registered voters in the county, resulting in a turnout rate of 20.54 percent.

Most voters cast their ballots in person on Election Day, with 5,217 votes recorded Tuesday at precincts across the county.

Early voting accounted for 3,652 ballots, while 255 voters cast absentee ballots by mail.

Walker County voters participated in several statewide races during the primary election, including contests for governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state and attorney general, along with local races and referendum questions.

Several state races have advanced to a runoff on June 16th.
