LaFayette City Council to Consider Infrastructure Projects, Rezoning Request at Monday Meeting

The City of LaFayette Mayor and Council will meet Monday, June 8, for their regularly scheduled council meeting, with a wide range of city business on the agenda, including infrastructure projects, development matters, and upcoming community events.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by consideration of minutes from the May 11 and May 22 council meetings.

During the visitors and guests portion of the meeting, council members are scheduled to hear from Kenny Curtis and Happy Singh.

Several items of new business are slated for discussion and possible action. Council members will review upcoming city events and discuss scheduling for the July council meeting. Officials will also consider an intergovernmental agreement with Walker County.

Infrastructure and public works projects make up a significant portion of the agenda. Council members are expected to consider awarding a paving bid, discuss matters involving East Villanow Street, and review bids related to the Glass Road transmission project. Airport engineering services are also scheduled for discussion.

Additional agenda items include plans for a wrestling building, a proposed pavilion at Greenway Park, and a rezoning request at Straight Gut. Council members will also discuss a proposed crosswalk project at Duke and Joe Stock.

Following completion of the agenda, the council is expected to adjourn.

The meeting is open to the public and will be held at LaFayette City Hall.
