Early voting is underway for Georgia’s 2026 Primary Runoff Election.

The runoff follows the May 19 primary, where several statewide races failed to produce a candidate with more than 50 percent of the vote, triggering additional elections to determine each party’s nominee.

Voters who participated in the May primary must remain with the same political party for the runoff. For example, voters who cast a Republican ballot in May must vote in the Republican runoff, while those who voted in the Democratic primary must vote in the Democratic runoff. Voters who did not participate in the primary may choose either party’s runoff ballot.

Early voting started yesterday and continues through Friday. In Walker County, voters may cast ballots at the Walker County Elections Office, located at 311 South Main Street in LaFayette, or at the Chickamauga Civic Center. Election Day is Tuesday, June 16.

Several high-profile statewide races remain undecided.

On the Republican ballot, voters will decide nominees for U.S. Senate, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, State School Superintendent and Public Service Commissioner District 5.

The Republican U.S. Senate runoff features Congressman Mike Collins and former University of Tennessee football coach Derek Dooley. The winner will advance to face incumbent U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff in November.

Republican voters will also choose between Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones and businessman Rick Jackson in the race for governor. The winner will face Democratic nominee and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms in the general election.

Additional Republican runoff contests include Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, State School Superintendent and Public Service Commissioner.

Democratic voters will decide nominees for Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Commissioner of Insurance and Commissioner of Labor.

The runoff election will conclude on Tuesday, June 16, when polls are open statewide from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
