The City of LaFayette’s 2026 road paving project is officially underway, with contractors beginning work Monday on Anthony Street as part of a planned series of roadway improvements throughout the city.

The paving project will include several streets across LaFayette, with work scheduled on:

  • Anthony Street, from Johnson Street to the dead end
  • Pledger Street, from South Chattanooga Street to the dead end
  • Johnson Street, from Foster Mill Drive to the dead end
  • Trail Lake, from North Main Street to the dead end
  • Duke Street, from South Main Street to Villanow Street
  • Foster Boulevard, from the Highway 27 Bypass to Patterson Street

City officials say the improvements are being funded through TSPLOST, or Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, along with the Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant program.

LMIG is a Georgia Department of Transportation program that provides state funding assistance to local governments for transportation and road improvement projects.

The city says the paving work is part of ongoing efforts to improve local infrastructure and maintain roadways throughout LaFayette.
