Joe Hefner

Joseph “Joe” Rudolph Hefner, age 82, of Chickamauga, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

In his early career, he served as a Veterinary Assistant and later worked for Rollins Cattle Farm. He went on to build a long career with the Catoosa Utility District, where he worked as a Meter Reader until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Glen Hefner and Mary Eugene Fortenberry Hefner; sister, Linda Hooper; brothers, Sam (Barbara) Hefner and Jim (Dorothy) Hefner; and brother-in-law, Joe Bryant.

Joe is survived by his wife, Joyce Hise Hefner; stepdaughter, Cary (Randy) Ferguson; step grandchildren, Britney Ferguson and Jordan (Kelsey) Ferguson; sisters, Betty (Howard) Faulkenberry, Ann Bryant, and Glenda Clark; several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Ron Ward.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Millican officiating.

Interment will take place at Agape Farms Cemetery in Chickamauga.

Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
