The City of Ringgold is mourning the loss of longtime city councilman Jake Haynes, who died suddenly.
Haynes, a lifelong resident of Ringgold, served on the city council for more than 12 years. City officials said the circumstances surrounding his death remain unknown, and funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
In a statement shared on social media, the City of Ringgold expressed condolences to Haynes’ family and friends, saying, “He will be missed.”
City officials described Haynes as someone who loved Ringgold and its residents, adding that he was known as a generous person who consistently put others before himself.
Catoosa County officials also shared their condolences, highlighting Haynes’ work with the county’s public school system and his commitment to the community.
“Our hearts, minds, and prayers are with the Haynes family and all who knew, loved, and worked with him,” the county said.
According to the City of Ringgold website, Haynes’ current council term was scheduled to run through the end of 2027. Officials have not announced plans for a special election to fill the vacant seat.
