Jake Charles Haynes

Jake Charles Haynes, age 57, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026. A lifelong resident of Ringgold, Jake dedicated his life to serving his community and the people who called it home. He graduated from Ringgold High School with the Class of 1988 and, while still a student, was given an opportunity by his mentor, Houston Black, to begin working in the maintenance department for Catoosa County Public Schools. What began as a part-time job grew into a remarkable forty-year career. Through hard work, dedication, and leadership, Jake advanced to the position of Maintenance Facilities Manager, where he faithfully served the school system and the countless students, teachers, and staff who benefited from his work. His commitment to his hometown extended beyond his career, as he proudly served on the Ringgold City Council for twelve years. Jake’s core focus on council was to ensure the infrastructure and foundational services provided to the residents and businesses were maintained and improved. He was a critical part of recent paving projects, water system improvements, and facility maintenance and upkeep. During his time on city counsel, Jake served terms on both the Board of Downton Development Authority and the Board of Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. He was proud of the direction and improvements made into the city over the previous 15 years. Jake was known for his generous heart, selfless spirit, and unwavering willingness to help others. His passion for serving his community was the driving force behind his decision to seek public office. No matter the circumstance or the need, Jake was always among the first to lend a helping hand, never expecting anything in return. A true jack of all trades, Jake possessed a remarkable ability to tackle almost any project. During the 1990s, he competed in, and won, a Toughman Contest. He also took great pride in building the home where he and his family lived. Whether he was browsing estate sales and flea markets in search of hidden treasures, admiring classic automobiles, or enjoying a ride on his motorcycle, Jake embraced life with enthusiasm. He was an avid fan of Clint Eastwood and proudly collected every one of his films. If a new season of Survivor was airing, Jake could always be found faithfully watching. Above all else, Jake cherished his family. He was their steady source of strength, wisdom, and encouragement, always ready to offer support during life's most difficult moments. His unwavering love, servant's heart, and quiet strength leave a legacy that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jake is preceded in death by his father, J.C. Haynes; his sister, Brenda Haynes; step-son, Brandon Hicks, as well as close friends, Nathan Clark and Houston Black.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tara Gordy Haynes; his mother, Frankie Haynes, his children, Blake, Ericka, and Shanna Haynes; his brother, Larry Haynes; as well as many grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Ringgold First Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Shadwick officiating. Interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
