The Walker County Planning Commission will meet on Thursday, July 16, at 6 p.m. at the Walker County Civic Center, where members are expected to consider several variance requests and a proposed rezoning during a public hearing.

Following the approval of minutes from the commission’s June 18 meeting, commissioners will open a public hearing to hear requests from property owners across Walker County.

Among the items on the agenda is a setback variance request from Gary and Patricia Baker for property located at 794 Rock Creek Road in Flintstone.

Commissioners will also consider a request from LeAnn Roberts for a variance that would allow more than six residences on a private drive at property located on Turner Lane in Rossville.

Another variance request comes from Battlefield Post 214 A L LTD, which is seeking permission to place four manufactured homes within the Chickamauga Battlefield Overlay District on property located at 540 Park City Road and 314 Memorial Drive in Rossville.

In addition to the variance requests, the Planning Commission will review a rezoning application submitted by Paradise Trust. The request seeks to partially rezone property located at 195 Ed’s Lake Road in LaFayette from A-1 Agricultural to R-2 Residential.

After the public hearing is closed, the Planning Commission is expected to consider each request individually before taking action.

The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, at the Walker County Civic Center.
