April 20, 1956 - July 14, 2026

Michael “Mike” David Hancock, age 70, resident of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Erlanger Baroness Hospital, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Mr. Hancock, son of the late Samuel Joseph Hancock and Oma Etta Shell Hancock, was born April 20, 1956 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After graduating from Red Bank High School, he worked at steel foundries, carpet mills, and tile companies. He then established a final career with Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute where he worked faithfully for over 35 years as a maintenance technician until he retired. Mr. Hancock enjoyed mowing grass; taking trips to the mountains; fishing; and a major auto enthusiast. While at home, many would find him watching his cats while sitting on his front porch. He also enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel music, watching both classic western shows and professional wrestling. The family remembers him as a gentle, kind, and humble Godly man who loved his family immensely – one that would help others, and put others ahead of himself.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Hancock; and step-son, Donald Norris.
Mr. Hancock is survived by one brother, Daniel (Steffin) Hancock; step-sons, Wayne (Teresa) Norris and Kenneth (Sherri) Norris; daughter-in-law, Gladys Norris; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two nieces; one great-niece; and one great nephew.
Private services will be held at a later date.
