Richard “Dick” Eugene Maurese Costner, age 95, of Ringgold, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. He was born to the late Jonas MacAulay Costner and Marion Jane Maloney Costner on September 15, 1930. Previously of Miami, Florida, he has resided in North Georgia since 1975 and was a member of Rock Point Community Church. Dick was a lover of books, birds and his family. He taught online English classes well into his eighties and believed that literacy was the key to success.
Along with his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores Arillo Costner; second wife, Annette Virginia Martin Costner, and his brother, George MacAulay Lee Costner.
He is survived by his children, Alyson (Scott) Costner-Holt of Saluda, Virginia, Carrie (Scott) Doan of Miami, Florida, James “Jim” (Amanda) Costner of Ringgold, Georgia, and Mary Jane Costner of Ringgold, Georgia, as well as six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
