Jerry Wayne Mitchell

Jerry Wayne Mitchell, age 73, of Chickamauga, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026. He was born in Fyffe, Alabama, to the late Robert Elice Mitchell and Cora Lee Lance Mitchell. Jerry moved to Chickamauga at a young age and was of the Church of God faith.
A 1972 graduate of Gordon Lee Memorial High School, Jerry was the owner and operator of Mitchell’s Precision Auto for more than 15 years before retiring in 2015. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Shirley Mitchell and Frank Mitchell.
Those left to cherish his memory are his former spouse, Helen Puryear Mitchell; children, Jason Harbor, Angela Moore, and Shirley Mitchell; siblings, Peggy Williams and Harold Mitchell; grandchildren, Hallie Moore, Logan Moore, Ethan Moore, Kenzie Bramlett, and Elias Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Kaiden Moore and Atlas Stone; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Home–J. Avery Bryan Chapel. Interment will follow at Chickamauga City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday and prior to the service on Saturday.
