The LaFayette Mayor and City Council will meet Monday evening for a public hearing and regular council meeting featuring a rezoning request, multiple road closure requests, and several other items of city business.

The meeting will begin with a public hearing on a rezoning request at 6:15 p.m., followed by the regularly scheduled council meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Council members are expected to begin the meeting with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance before considering approval of the minutes from the July 7 council meeting.

During the visitors and guests portion of the agenda, the council will recognize Honeybee sponsors.

Under new business, council members are scheduled to discuss several topics, including upcoming community events, a proposed road closure for Community Faith Night, and a road closure request related to Sept. 11 activities.

Additional agenda items include consideration of a garbage truck lease through the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA), an airport Capital Improvement Program (CIP) funding reallocation, adoption of the Walker County Hazard Mitigation Plan, and action on the rezoning request that was the subject of the public hearing.

The meeting will be held Monday, Aug. 10, at LaFayette City Hall and is open to the public.
