A roadway safety improvement project is now underway in portions of the Chickamauga and Rossville areas, with work expected to continue for about a month.
According to Walker County officials, a contractor is completing safety improvements along Johnson Road, Five Points Road and Wilson Road.
The work includes improvements to roadway shoulders, along with the installation of raised pavement markers, new striping and additional traffic signage.
Motorists traveling through the affected areas should be aware of the ongoing work and use caution around crews and equipment.
The project is being funded through the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant, or LMIG, Safety Action Plan.
Weather and other conditions permitting, the roadway safety improvements are expected to take approximately one month to complete.
