The Walker County Data Center Development Standards Study Committee will hold its first meeting Thursday, August 27, as county officials begin reviewing potential regulations for data center development.
The meeting is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the Walker County Civic Center, located at 10052 Highway 27 in Rock Spring.
The committee has been tasked with reviewing Walker County’s Code of Ordinances as it relates to data centers and determining what development standards may be appropriate for future projects.
Topics expected to be examined include where data centers may be allowed under county zoning regulations, along with potential requirements involving setbacks and buffers. The committee will also consider issues such as noise, lighting, environmental impacts and the compatibility of data centers with surrounding properties and land uses.
Other potential regulations related to data center development may also be considered as the committee conducts its review.
The committee is expected to meet regularly every other Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the Walker County Civic Center.
