Representatives from WLA Studio will be in southeastern Walker County this week conducting a historic resources survey as part of an effort to help the county regain eligibility for funding to restore local historic properties.
Survey work is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday in an area of unincorporated Walker County located between State Route 151 and West Armuchee Road.
Residents in the area may see members of the survey team working near local properties and roadways. Team members will be wearing safety vests, and their vehicles will be clearly identified with large magnets reading “WLA Studio Survey Team.”
The historic resources survey is a necessary step in the process for Walker County to regain eligibility for funding that could be used to help preserve and restore historic properties throughout the county.
County officials say the effort is intended to help protect local historic resources and provide future generations and visitors with opportunities to experience the people, lifestyles and traditions that shaped Walker County’s past.
